About Kilcock SEC

Kilcock SEC aims to be a leading community in illustrating how energy can contribute to positive climate action effort in North Kildare.

Kilcock SEC do this by seeking to engage the wider community in the conversation around energy efficiency, smart energy & using renewable energy sources. Kilcock SEC have partnered with Kildare County Council to produce an Energy Master Plan for the community, which allows them to envision the energy transition in a real and active way within the community.

There focus is on practical aspects of retrofits for home heating & more sustainable transport options for the people of Kilcock. They examine opportunities for future projects that will create social & economic benefits for future generations.

Kilcock SEC work together by engaging with all members of our community & there community energy mentor on what tools & services are available to make us more energy aware & how the options available can be used to save money & energy, & to provide a framework towards low carbon living for everyone in Kilcock.

The Three Pillars of Energy Security

Security and Reliability: Focuses on the uninterrupted availability of energy sources. This includes maintaining a resilient grid and having enough supply to meet demand even during surges or supply chain shocks.

Environment: Also known as Sustainability. This involves shifting toward renewable energy (like wind and solar) and meeting climate targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Costs and Efficiency: Often labeled as Competitiveness or Affordability. It ensures energy is priced fairly for households and businesses while promoting energy efficiency to reduce overall demand.
