Why Volunteer?
There are lots of opportunities for voluntary work and there many ways to get involved, even if you can spare an hour a week. Like many credit unions Kilcloon Credit Union relies on the enthusiasm and commitment of volunteers. Becoming a volunteer means you can:
- give something back to our community
- work with fellow Members and members of our community
- bring your skills to bear and develop new ones
- access great free business training opportunities
- be part of something that works for the good of our Members and the community at large
Don’t Think You Have Anything To Offer?
Yes, you have. Kilcloon Credit Union is always on the look-out for Members who can bring their skills to bear across a wide range of disciplines. Whether you have an hour or two per week to spare, or can commit more time there is a role for you. Here are some of the areas that our Members’ knowledge and skills would be of great help:

Unsure if you can make the commitment?
Decide how much time you can devote, bearing in mind that being a Board Director will require more time commitment than being a volunteer on one of our committees. Why not start with an hour a week, or a few hours per month with us and see how it goes?
Don't know much about credit unions?
Don’t worry you will be given plenty of support and training an you will very quickly pick things up - training is a very important part of being involved in the credit union.
How About Becoming A Director?
All Directors must be nominated and elected to the Board. This will usually happen at the AGM. The Board of Directors plays a vital role in providing leadership and direction to the credit union. It determines policy and oversees governance. We are always on the look-out for diverse skills and knowledge that will help to balance the composition of the Board. All Directors are volunteers too, but receive appropriate credit union-related training, as required, in order help them discharge their duties, and they are re-imbursed for certain credit union related expenses.
